From November 18 to 22, the 11th Bilateral International Academic Exchange Seminar themed "East Asian Economic Resilience" was held at Wakayama University in Japan. Lin Ping, Dean of the School of Economics of Shandong University, led a delegation to attend the conference. Miyuki Motoyama, President of Wakayama University, Megumi Kanagawa, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and Lin Ping attended the seminar and delivered speeches. Ten teachers from the School of Economics of Shandong University and the Faculty of Economics of Wakayama University gave themed reports. The conference was hosted by Professor Takaaki Kanazawa from the Faculty of Economics of Wakayama University, and some teachers and students of the faculty participated.
In the first stage of the seminar, Lin Ping gave a report titled "China’s Antitrust Regulation of the Digital Economy: Recent Developments and an Evaluation", introducing the development of antitrust regulation under the background of China's digital economy and conducting analysis and evaluation. Professor Katsuhisa Tsujimoto from the Faculty of Economics of Wakayama University gave a review titled "Trends and Prospects in Research on Economic Resilience", summarizing the research on economic resilience. Associate Professor Zhang Renbin from the School of Economics of Shandong University gave a report titled "Nominal Rigidities, Rational Inattention and the Optimal Price Index Stabilization Policy", pointing out that when there is rational inattention and endogenous information friction, the central bank should anchor the target inflation index more on sectors with low price stickiness, because sectors with low price stickiness will endogenously lead to greater information friction and thus cause welfare losses. Associate Professor Mariko Okada from the Faculty of Economics of Wakayama University introduced the research on "The Concept of Resilience in Research of Labor Problems - A Consideration Focusing on the Industrial Relations", focusing on labor resilience issues, taking Japan's labor relations as an example, and analyzing the mechanism of the labor market on economic resilience.
In the second stage of the seminar, Assistant Researcher Li Yue from the School of Economics of Shandong University gave a report on digital platform regulation titled "On Regulation of a Dual-Role Digital Platform". The report pointed out that e-commerce platforms selling self-operated products will distort their information sharing strategies, leading to inefficiency, and the current EU Digital Markets Act may reduce social welfare and consumer surplus. Associate Professor Misa Okabe from the Faculty of Economics of Wakayama University reported "Trade Liberalization and Rural Poverty in Developing Countries: Evidence from Cambodia", pointing out that trade liberalization has increased the income gap between urban and rural areas in Cambodia. Professor Gai Xiaomin from the School of Economics of Shandong University gave a research report on China's old-age insurance and household consumption titled "The Impact of Old-Age Insurance on Household Consumption in China", analyzing the positive impact of old-age insurance on promoting household consumption under the background of population aging and putting forward specific countermeasures and suggestions. Associate Professor Song Qian from the Faculty of Economics of Kyushu Kyoritsu University gave a report titled "Sustainability of Walkable Community Development: Tentative Plan for Development of Attractive Walking Trails in the City", sharing the trends of community development in Japan and its impact on sustainable economic development.
In the third stage of the seminar, Associate Professor Sun Shuqin from the School of Economics of Shandong University gave a report titled "Study on the Impact of Entrepreneurial Spirit on the Quality of Export Products", analyzing the role of entrepreneurial spirit on the quality of export products with Chinese A-share listed companies as the research object and analyzing the moderating effect of interlocking directorate networks. Professor Nabil MAGHREBI from the Faculty of Economics of Wakayama University focused on economic resilience and uncertainty issues, reported "Critical Perspectives on Economic Resilience and Decision-making under Uncertainty", and put forward policy suggestions to address uncertainty issues.

During the exchange meeting, the delegation visited the International Exchange Section of the Wakayama Prefectural Government in Japan, met with Toshihiko Okazawa, Director of the International Exchange Section, and reviewed the series of activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of friendly exchanges between Shandong Province and Wakayama Prefecture. The delegation also visited Miyuki Motoyama, President of Wakayama University, and the International Exchange Office of the university, conducted in-depth discussions on bilateral academic exchanges between the School of Economics of Shandong University and Wakayama University, and both parties expressed their good wishes to further expand the coverage of exchange fields and continuously deepen and strengthen mutual exchanges and cooperation in the future.


The holding of this exchange activity realized the collision of academic ideas and the sharing of research results between scholars of the two universities, and laid a solid foundation for building in-depth cooperation between the two parties. Taking this activity as an opportunity, the two universities will explore and practice diversified cooperation models in multiple dimensions such as talent training and academic research, and make more positive contributions to promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation between Shandong University and Wakayama University, as well as between Shandong Province and Wakayama Prefecture.
In 2005, the School of Economics of Shandong University and the Faculty of Economics of Wakayama University signed an academic exchange and cooperation agreement. The seminar has been held alternately in different places by the two parties every year, aiming to build a good platform for international exchanges and cooperation and assist the friendly exchanges between Shandong Province and Wakayama Prefecture.
