From June 8 to 9, the Warwick-SUFE-JNU-SDU Four-University International Academic Seminar was held at the University of Warwick in the UK. More than 20 scholars and doctoral students from the University of Warwick, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Jinan University and Shandong University gathered to discuss cutting-edge research and hot issues in fields such as macroeconomics, industrial economics, labor economics, and econometrics, and shared their latest research results. Professor Zhou Xiaolan, Teacher Huang Jilei, and Assistant Researcher Shen Danqing from the School of Economics of Shandong University participated in the seminar and gave academic reports.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Jeremy Smith from the University of Warwick and Professor Zhou Yahong from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics delivered welcome speeches respectively. They extended a sincere welcome to the participating guests and unanimously stated that the holding of this seminar will further deepen the exchange and cooperation between the four universities in the field of economics, promote economic research to a higher level, and express full expectations for the close cooperation between the four universities in the future.

The seminar set up three parallel sessions with more than 20 wonderful academic reports. Zhou Xiaolan gave an academic report titled "Proportional Fee vs. Unit Fee: Evidence from Patent Licensing Practices in the Chinese Smartphone Market", which in-depth analyzed the proportional fee and unit fee issues in patent licensing practices in the Chinese smartphone market, providing new perspectives and empirical evidence for research in related fields. Huang Jilei gave an academic report titled "Does Digitalization Widen Labor Income Inequality?", which deeply discussed the impact of digitalization on labor income inequality. Shen Danqing gave an academic report titled "Protection of Women’s Rights and Household Fertility Decisions: Evidence from a Quasi-natural Experiment in China", focusing on the relationship between women's rights protection and household fertility decisions, and taking a quasi-natural experiment in China as the entry point, providing strong empirical support for related research.
This seminar is another high-standard academic activity co-hosted by the four universities following the 2024 SUFE-SDU-Warwick Economics Workshop. The successful holding of the seminar not only provided a high-level academic exchange platform for scholars from the four universities, promoted the collision and integration of academic ideas, but also contributed wisdom and strength to promoting the innovative development of economic research.
In recent years, the School of Economics has attached great importance to the construction of international scientific research platforms, continuously explored in depth, and actively integrated into the "international scientific research academic circle". It has successively co-hosted many bilateral and multilateral high-end international academic conferences with universities and scientific research institutions in Japan, Europe, Hong Kong of China and other places. The school's international scientific research strength has gradually climbed, its international academic influence has gradually increased, and the output of international high-level academic achievements has achieved significant growth.
