Course Description:
The focus of the course is to identify the role of government in a moderneconomyand examines the interaction between government's attempts to provide services and the financingof expenditures through traditional and non-traditional means. Thecourse is aimed to introduce an appreciation of the analytical methods in economics for the study of the public sector and the different ways inwhich government policies affect the economy. It develops a framework that facilitates the evaluation ofpublic policy and subsequently informs the public debate.
