Course Description:
This course presents an introduction to the analysis of development problems from an economics perspective. The related analytical framework and tools will be discussed under the basis of microeconomic theory showing how economists use them to conduct research on topics of development in low- and middle-income countries. Issues in poor places such as transaction costs, risk and financing considerations, information problems, cooperation and coordination problems, institutional rules and norms, and insights from behavioral economics will be mainly covered.
