Title: Regression Discontinuity Method and Its Application in Policy Evaluation

Speaker: Gao Qiuming, Professor of the Department of International Business, Business School, China University of Political Science and Law; Doctor of Economics from Peking University; Postdoctoral Fellow of the Institute of Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Visiting Scholar of the Business School, Columbia University, USA. He serves as a Director of the China Enterprise Management Research Association. His research focuses on the field of public policy. He presides over a number of projects such as the National Social Science Fund Project and the National Natural Science Fund Project. His papers have been published in domestic and foreign authoritative journals such as China Economic Quarterly, World Economy and Social Science & Medicine.

Abstract: Regression Discontinuity (RD) is a commonly used method in policy evaluation. This report will systematically introduce the principle, model design and precautions of this method, and demonstrate its application through a specific policy evaluation case. We will further compare RD with other causal identification methods such as DID to further clarify its applicable conditions.
